2009 Isle of Man TT - Saturday Practice: Gary Johnson - Blog

Hi there everyone, Just thought i'd give a run down on last nights practice.

Been red hot all day and things looking good, Decided we were going to go out on the stoker 1000 first , then 2 laps on the SBK (if everything was ok after the first lap), then if they was time 1lap on the 600.

Practice was delayed 30min because of cows on the road near balaugh jump, but was underway once it was cleared and i was first off down the road. Felt great going off (albeit abit nervy) as no rubbers down on the road at the min and it's covered in dust.

First thing I noticed as I set off was my was my steering damper on the stocker was no good, so didn't set us in the best of confidence for the rest of the circuit especially the bumpy bits which it did end up playing a nightmare up on... The rear felt a little soft as well which wouldn't of helped the tank slappers, but all in all a dampers a minor thing to sort and my leg wasn't playing up, so it felt good to be back on the bike here. (It's damm quick here like)

On the SBK next and it felt really good which was a nice feeling so did the 2 laps on it, the sun was really low and causing a problem to see and with all the flys out there made it a nightmare. There was a lot of yellow flags making us slow down alot which don't matter anyhow in practice, so just rode round having fun pulling wheelies going fast
.
Supersport bike was then out for a quick lap, it felt good, albeit a little slow, but nice finish off to a good first nights practice and 4 laps got in!! Off to see the docs on monday to see if they can drain my knee and give me somert for it to last the fortnight then happy days. Looking forward to mon nights practice, make few alteration and keep building it up steady. Let you no how it goes.

All the best Gaz

Just like to thank all the lads for there efforts tonight, and everyone who's helped to get me here on the grid.
