The first real Road Race of
the UK season takes place at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough
on Sunday 19th April. The event organised by the Auto
66 Club has attracted a superb entry for the 12 Race
Programme.
This includes Gold Cup Winner Guy Martin who will ride
the 600 and 1000 Hydrex Hondas, Ian Lougher is going
to be a busy man as he is entered on the 125,250,600
& 1000cc R1Yamaha. The Dunlop boys are entered,
Michael will ride both the R1 and R6 Yamahas, William
will ride in the 125 and 250 classes on Honda’s
and the 600 and Open class on Yamaha machines. Regular
Chris Palmer will be making the trip from the Isle of
Man to ride in the 125, 250, 600 and Open races.
Ian Armstrong rolls out two new Yamahas R1 and R6 as
will Scottish rider Mark Buckley. Mark is hungry for
success and this will be the first showing of his new
OTSS Team whilst Carl Rennie returns for his second
visit to Scarborough, again on the AIR Kawasaki's. Making
his second appearance at the Mount will be Ollie Linsdell
who will ride a brace of 125 & 250 Hondas along
with 600 and 1000 Yamahas. Local riders include David
Bell from Chester-Le-Street, Mike Minns from Bishop
Auckland, Tony Flinton from Scarborough, Craig Atkinson
from Keighley, Dave Woolams from Saltburn-by-the-Sea,
Neil Vicars from Tadcaster and Mick andMark Goodings
from Doncaster.
The dark horse in the programme will be No 77 Ryan
Farquhar making the trip from Northern Ireland to ride
three Kawasaki Machines in the 400,600 and 1000cc classes.
Meanwhile entries have also been received from Paul
Owen, Keith Pringle, Daniel Frear, Stephen Oates, Keiran
Hankin, Dave Hewson, John Barton and Ian Pattinson with
a strong Irish contingent featuring Michael Pearson,
Dwyer Agnew, David Guiney, Ryan McCay, Derek and Keith
Costello and newcomer Damien Mulleady. An interesting
entry also comes from British Superstock Championship
regular Steve Mercer who will be making his debut at
Oliver's Mount.
The programme also includes the favourites with the
crowd Formula 2 Sidecars, many times winner Conrad Harrison
heads the list with Tony Thirkell from Thirsk, Greg
Lambert from Catterick and Dave Wallis from Derbyshire,
all looking for places on the rostrum.
The action packed programme starts at 8.30am with practice,
followed by qualifying and the first race at 12.30,
the organisers are expecting a massive crowd for this
