Having watched both nights highlights, I must say the camera work was excellent. Multiple onboard cameras gave graphic views of what the riders see during the race and the close shaves than most fans rarely see.
I can well imagine it must have been a nightmare to edit with so many pieces of footage to bring together in such a short space of time. Thats were I felt some of the coverage was let down as there were times it jumped about between riders at different parts of the circuit and you didn't quite know where you were.
I just hope they take a little more time before producing the inevitable DVD as it would be a shame to spoil the excellent footage by codging it together.
One other wee issue which just grates me with the BBC coverage is the silly staged interviews with the leading riders before each race. Whilst the greekeeper at Royal Portrush probably enjoyed the opportunity for beating the pants of Michael Rutter on his lawnmower, it came across as a bit amateurish. I'd far sooner see Rutter with his overalls on tightening a few nuts on his bike with a pair of dirty overalls on than faffing about on a lawnmower. I know it was probably done for his sponsors, but theres bound to be something a little more subtle.
Mini winge over but thoroughly enjoyed the actual race action.
