TAS

So it seems TAS are not happy about two of their riders having to start at the back of the grid because they failed to post a qualifying time. Mervyn says that they will look at it after the session today...
Why should a rider who qualifies in the A group get moved back to placate TAS?
Do Stoner or Rossi get moved up the starting order if they fail to qualify?
The integrity of the event hinges on this decision....

Conor Cummins, William Dunlop, Micheal Dunlop, Ian Hutchinson, Ian Lougher, Guy Martin, Martin Jessop & Micheal Rutter.

These are the guys who did not qualify on Tuesday. Only 2 of these riders are TAS riders so can we please stop the cynical conspiracy theories.

The simple fact of the matter is that if these guys have to start at the back of the final group it would be a disaster waiting to happen having them all try to carve through the slower guys. This is no disrespect to the guys ahead of them but this is a super fast international road race and safety has to be factored into it. It is great to see the likes of Bonetti, Kinghan & co qualify so well & they deserve their chance but surely safety is paramount?

No conspiracy theory from me....TAS have a proven track record of whining at the NW200 when their riders can't qualify. I didn't see either of the Dunlops, Lougher, Jessop or Rutter kicking off on TV!!
I have already been told that some of the lesser known riders who are at risk of being moved have let Mervyn know that they will not accept it....fair play to them I say!!

First off I agree Safety is the most important thing at any race meeting but the likes of TAS have too much input in the NW200. They wouldn’t get away with it at the UGP or other road races in Ireland and that is the way it should be.

Now to your point. Yes all these people didn’t qualify on Tuesday but with most of them, that was down to not having enough laps completed and all they had to do was finish the required laps today and their Tuesday time would count. The 2 TAS riders didn’t have a quick enough time. Lets see if MW and the team fold.

This is exactly what happened in 2003 and TAS threatened to pull out of the event. One hour later and Mervyn decreed that grid positions were determined on the previous years result!!

I have just spoken to Richard Agnew the Timekeeper and he has confirmed that all grids have been published as per combined qualifying times.
