Ulster GP on TV?

All about 'racing between the hedges'

I find it strange at how clueless the commentators seem, these two have been commentating on road racing for several years.

I'm also presuming the commentary is done after the highlights have been put together like the TT coverage(although I did enjoy this years TT DVD including the Manx Radio guys as well as Whitham, Plater and Parrish) rather than live which I guess can make the job difficult to sound good already knowing the result.

There's a bit of work to be done in the future when it comes to these TV coverage programs..

i was really lookin forward to it.. and enjoyed the first night but come the second i was frustrated and disappointed...

no mention of Lee Vernon.. then the SSP2 race was mainly covered with footage of Johnson smoking tail pipe.. one minute william was in front, then some exhaust, then bruce was in front, then some exhaust... that last lap was a cracker and we didnt see the half of it..

There was a lot of heli cam shots too... its class to see theyre use at Dundrod.. but ya couldnt see have of the action.. especially with trees lining alot of the circuit in places... get more cameras on the ground!!

and yes! those commentators.. where do they get them? they seem so clueless it can be so frustrating!

they'll HAVE to do better next year! if still like to see UGP get the same treatment as NW200..
sometime's i think too much... I think... DAMN!

I watched RPM on UTV last nite, they had a 30min show to cover two car rallys and were able to mention the young English co-driver who lost his life, show a picture, talk to other drivers regarding him and dedicated the whole show to his memory!! Why could BBC not even express a bit of sympathy to his family, friends and team at all during 2hours worth of coverae!!

RIP Lee

A lot of complaints here about the sport getting covered on TV. I couldn't make it across for the UGP (was hoping to do the Dundrod but couldn't afford it) so was glad it was both televised and on iPlayer.

Really folks stop complaining; it's getting broadcast and captured. Sure the BBC's little snippets (the lorenzo/food thing, Guy martin/Philip McCallum as Wallace and Grommit and the horse riding thing on this program) were truly cringe worthy but that's why we have things like sky+ and iPlayer; so they can be fast forwarded passed these pieces of car crash TV.

Only watched the first race so far and I couldn't believe MD and IL. One a cripple (Sorry Michael if you read this but you really looked in pain hobbling about Armoy) and the other almost fifty!! Excellent stuff.

Would have been suitable to at least have a mention out of respect to Lee Vernon.

I've only just finished watching the BBC highlights and have to say I was amazed and a bit disgusted that there was no mention of Lee Vernon at all.
Not on really - a bit of respect for a fallen rider please, BBC.

Having said that, it's great that there is so much coverage of roadracing this year on Eurosport, BBC and UTV. Keep it coming!

Greenlights coverage of Armoy was great, although the 2 commentators were useless...they got several riders wrong....it did bring a tear to my eye when Lee Vernon was interviewed on the grid :(
