DUKE RANKINGS: Tears of Joy and Sadness at Manx Grand Prix

The 2012 Manx Grand Prix provided both tears of joy and tears of sadness - tears of joy for all the race winners and perhaps even more tears of sadness as two competitors lost their lives enjoying the sport they loved, Steve Osborne and Trevor Ferguson.

Thirteen Manx Grand Prix Races produced thirteen individual race winners - (in race order) - Newcomers A Kamil Holan; Newcomers B Andrew Dudgeon; Newcomers C James Cowton; Classic 350 Chris Palmer; Classic 250 Peter Symes; Classic 500 Ryan Farquhar; Formula Classic Dave Madsen-Mygdal; Junior Manx Grand Prix Wayne Kirwan; SuperTwin Manx Grand Prix Nigel Moore; Lightweight Manx Grand Prix Ross Johnson; Classic Superbike Michael Dunlop; Junior Post Classic Roy Richardson; Senior Manx Grand Prix John Simpson.

Many of the above winners have already scored points in this years Rankings, however highest climber is Nigel Moore up 27 places to 32nd. Other movers are Ross Johnson up 22 to 30th; Alan Oversby up 21 to 38th; Roy Richardson up 19 to 45th. Whilst James Cowton advances seven places to 24th; Michael Sweeney moves four to 15th, with Chris Palmer climbing two into fourth place, behind Ryan Farquhar, Michael Dunlop and William Dunlop.

Three competitors are in contention for the Duke Road Race Rankings Newcomers Award 2012 - Sam Wilson presently in 16th with 515 points; James Cowton 24th with 409 points and Alan Kenny 37th with 277 points.

With twenty rounds having taken place so far this year 461 riders have scored points so far with 106 having reached the 100 mark or more.
