Aberdare Road Race - Circuit Guide

Start and Finish Straight
At Aberdare Park, the race is started by the waving of the national flag and once the flag is waved, the riders race off up the Start & Finish towards the Rosaries.

The Rosaries
The Rosaries is a tight left hander at the end of the Start & Finish Straight – after negotiating their way round here, it's an uphill race towards the narrow Chappel Bend.

Chappel Bend
Chappel Bend is a narrow uphil left hander that leads onto the Top Straight.

Top Straight
The Top Straight is shorter than the Start & Finish Straight but is still a very quick part of the circuit. This straight is quite wide and there is plenty of room to overtake. Riders will need to slow down in preparation for the tricky Lake Esses combination.

Lake Esses
At the end of the top straight is the start of the Lake Esses. The first bend is a down hill left hander. On the right hand side to the approach of this bend is the Paddock Entrance where riders exit the circuit.
After taking the entry to the Esses there is a short downhill section before the tight right hander on the approach to the lake. This is the only right hand bend on the circuit.
After exiting the Esses there is a sweeping left hand bend, passing the hospitality tent and boat house, that leads down towards The Fountain.

The Fountain
The Fountain is a fast sweeping left hand bend. Just after the bend, the circuit narrows slightly as it enters the second downhill section of the circuit. In this downhill section there is a slight right kink in the circuit leading to the spectator crossing point and the final bend of the circuit, The Monument.

The Monument
The Monument is the final bend of the circuit. It is a fast left hander that leads onto the Start & Finish Straight.
