Tuesday night’s practice session for
the Isle of Man TT started off with the fastest lap
of the week so far. Guy Martin took his Superbike Yamaha
round in 18 minutes 14.58 seconds – an average
speed of 124.09 miles an hour.
Martin and Ian Lougher were the first two riders to
get the session underway and Lougher’s Superbike
Honda was less than ten seconds behind at a speed of
122.989. John McGuinness and Ian Hutchinson also completed
their first laps of the night at over 121 miles an hour.
Martin’s second lap was even faster than his
first, knocking five seconds off his earlier time and
recording a speed of 124.717. However, the best was
still to come as McGuinness posted a lap of 18 minutes
9 seconds – or 125.267. Lougher and Hutchinson
both increased their speeds to more than 123 miles an
hour on their second circuit of the night - while Bruce
Anstey was another 123 man, as was Jason Griffiths.
Newcomers worth a mention included William Dunlop,
nephew of TT legend Joey, and Manx rider Conor Cummins.
Dunlop posted a lap of 111.821 on his Supersport Yamaha
while Conor raised his fastest speed of the week to
in excess of 113 miles an hour on his Superbike Yamaha
and then improved this to 116.303. American visitor
Jeremy Toye had a lap at over 112 on his Superbike Suzuki.
Dave Molyneux and Craig Hallam again led the sidecars
with another sub-20 minutes lap.

A total of 214 machines went through scritineering
Japanese rider Jun Maeda and Irishman Seamus Greene
– who were involved in a high speed collision
at the start of Monday night’s practice session
– were both described as ‘critical.’
Greene, from County Donegal, has now been transferred
to the Walton Neuro Centre in Liverpool for further
treatment.
James Cornell, the American sidecar passenger who suffered
multiple injuries in an accident at May Hill, Ramsey
during Saturday night’s opening practice is still
a patient in Noble’s Hospital, Douglas, where
his condition remains critical. His driver, Doug Dano
is said to be comfortable.
